Our solar system is currently within the galactic disk.

Edge On Spiral Galaxy

This stuff is at the center of all galaxies.

We are going through a cloud of plasma which is twice as dense as the Local Bubble of the Interstellar Medium.

As we move through this area of plasma and cosmic radiation, we may see more interesting changes to our Sun and the planets in our Solar System.

Even this galaxy has "stuff" sandwiched in the middle.

Most of the physical universe is made of dark matter, like what is in the middle of this galaxy.

We have already aligned with the center of the galaxy. Depending on who you're reading, this occurred anywhere between 1998 and 2 million years ago. We are currently moving upwards and away from the plane of the galaxy.
